{Nice part 1: Marché aux Fleurs}

Promises are promises...

The "Marché aux Fleurs" is one of the most famous market in Nice. Except for Monday, because ther's the Antique Market (next part!), this nice market take place, in the old Nice, everyday since early in the morning till the sun goes down...

If you are planning to visit Nice you cannot miss this amazing market.

This market is not just beautiful because of his beautiful flowers or fruits or vegetables... The amazing things is how perfect is every stall. The farmers display their products as a jewelry windows... and the prices is quite the same! Be prepared... but it is worth while going!

You can find seasonal vegetables and fruits... Fresh artichokes, perfect for an easy and fast salad or to prepare "Risotto". Peppers, onions, garlic, tomatos, eggplants and zucchini for a french "Ratatouille"... that is a real french dish.

The name is comprised of two components: "rata" is slang from the French Army meaning "chunky stew", touiller, "to stir"... You just have to cook the vegtables all together. The ingredients are traditionally sauteed in olive oil and can be served over rice or potatoes, cous cous preferably with a crusty French bread and a glass of wine ...

If you need the recipe just ask...

The farmers and the ladies have "the" certain charme and allure that only the french have! they are elegant with semplicity...

The part I loved the most is at the end of market. Before to get back we stopped in front of tens of differnt epices... The south of France is famous for the flavours and perfumes . They use epices all over the dishes, at home and for their beauty...

flavoured sugar...

We bought a lot of epices... Cannelle, sweet paprika, 2 different curry ( spicy and sweet), ginger, sesam seeds. Epices can change a simple dish in an unforgettable dish!

What do you look for when you are at the Market?

Goodnight and I hope you had a good start of week!
