{Nice Part 2 - Brocantage}

You know that I have a thing for brocante and antique markets and I have a particolar love with French Brocantage. I think they are so unique and special. They really fascinated me. I like to snoop around hoping to find a new treasure to bring at home with me.

Old books...

Tea towels, napkins and silver cutlery...

Crystal glasses...

And this is my treasure. My reward ad the end of a treasure hunt.

A very nice gentleman sold me those bottles. He told me their past. "They came from the pharmacy of a near by old little village. They were used to make some sort of "potion", it could have been a migic potion". I was like a child surprised and amazed form this history, it could be a lie but I prefer to imagine and think he was telling me the thruth... It was so passionated...

He showed me all the details. It's blown glass and the label is inside...

I love to buy things like this , it's like they have soul. I still have to decide their future place...

I can't wait to go back to this market and fortunately it won't pass so long before to get back....

This is it! My short trip to Nice... I have just another short post!

I have so many news ladies for you all...

THIS MORNING WE CONFIRMED AND SIGNED FOR OUR (MR B AND ME) FIRST APPARTMENT ...

I'm so happy you can't even imagine... This is a collage of pics I took this morning with my cell, I know you won't understand nothing... But trust me..."She" is what I dreamt since we've started looking for an appart!

AND THE BETTER HAS YET TO COME....

{Nice part 1: Marché aux Fleurs}

Promises are promises...

The "Marché aux Fleurs" is one of the most famous market in Nice. Except for Monday, because ther's the Antique Market (next part!), this nice market take place, in the old Nice, everyday since early in the morning till the sun goes down...

If you are planning to visit Nice you cannot miss this amazing market.

This market is not just beautiful because of his beautiful flowers or fruits or vegetables... The amazing things is how perfect is every stall. The farmers display their products as a jewelry windows... and the prices is quite the same! Be prepared... but it is worth while going!

You can find seasonal vegetables and fruits... Fresh artichokes, perfect for an easy and fast salad or to prepare "Risotto". Peppers, onions, garlic, tomatos, eggplants and zucchini for a french "Ratatouille"... that is a real french dish.

The name is comprised of two components: "rata" is slang from the French Army meaning "chunky stew", touiller, "to stir"... You just have to cook the vegtables all together. The ingredients are traditionally sauteed in olive oil and can be served over rice or potatoes, cous cous preferably with a crusty French bread and a glass of wine ...

If you need the recipe just ask...

The farmers and the ladies have "the" certain charme and allure that only the french have! they are elegant with semplicity...

The part I loved the most is at the end of market. Before to get back we stopped in front of tens of differnt epices... The south of France is famous for the flavours and perfumes . They use epices all over the dishes, at home and for their beauty...

flavoured sugar...

We bought a lot of epices... Cannelle, sweet paprika, 2 different curry ( spicy and sweet), ginger, sesam seeds. Epices can change a simple dish in an unforgettable dish!

What do you look for when you are at the Market?

Goodnight and I hope you had a good start of week!

{Food and Travel}

One of the things I love the most when I travel it's to try "new and different" food (I won't never ever eat italian food abroad! Never, trust me!) and to take it home with me as a souvenir from the place I' ve visited.And so i did even from Nice...

French are fantastic in making breads, chocolate truffles, pastries. They have amazing "boulangerie" that sometimes are so elegant that it's look like to enter in a boutique that could be Chanel or Dior.

Pierre Hermè is one of the most famous as well Ladurée well known all over the world for his little "diamond"... the Macarons!
Pierre Hermèe

Ladurèe

However...

I bought some Jeff de Bruge pralines that are like a drug, you can't stop! Ther's a nice little store in Nice where we bought boxes of truffles of different taste!

The bread... the most famous is the Baguette (french are famous because they use to take the baguette under their arm!) but they have a huge quantity of different tastes. We bought a "pain sportif" and a raisin and apricot bread to eat for breakfast toasted with home made orange marmelade!

Isn't it perfect as a saturday breakfast?

Girls don't miss my nest "Nice Ville Episode"... much more has to come... Spice, flowers, vegetable, Antique market...

I wish you all a very happy weekend! Any particular plans?

P.s. the pics are fuzzy 'cause my new Macro Lens! They should be (and supposed to be) like this...
