{Vintage Selection}

I think I have my style, I'm not a beauty, I'm not perfectly in shape But I think I have my style...
When I was younger , 18 -19 years old, I wanted to be as all the others girls so we all have the same shoes, the same jackets, we talked and we acted in the same way.
When you are young and you want to be accepted by the others you follow the crowd

Bet then I grew up and I've understood that we are different form each other and we all have to be always ourself no matter what...

That's why I love vintage clothes... It's really rare to find the same dress twice (  but never say never!!!)

(here)

I love them because...

the are very feminine
sometime they are cheap ( I'm good to find 5/10€ clothes)
they make me feel fine
they are more me...

e sono molto me...

(here)

(here)

(I can't find the credits...)

My coats are vintage and my fav summer dresses are vintage
I love pillow hats, clutches and purses......

I miei cappotti sono vintage e i miei vestiti estivi , i preferiti, sono vintage...
Mi poicciono i cappellini e le borsette vintage

You can find a lot of vintage on Etsy... but you better be careful...
When you start you can't stop!!!

Potete trovare tantissimi vestiti vintage su Etsy... ma fate attenzione...
una volta che iniziate non potrete fermarvi!!!

{ Kari Herer Photography }

I just came across this amazing photographer Kari Herer.
I was browsing on etsy and...bang... I made a new discover, her store!

This is the photo I love the most on her portfolio published on Etsy, where she sells her photos.

I wish I could buy it for my empty wall in the living room

It would be just perfect!
Sarebbe proprio perfetta!

She "... as been photographing since a young girl. Her work has been shown in Martha Stewart, Town and Country, Vera Wang Fine Papers, InStyle Magazine, Tiny Prints, Wedding Paper Divas, and William Arthur..." (about her)

Fotografa da quando è una bambina. I suoi lavori sono stati pubblicati da Martha Stewart, Town and Country, Vera Wang Fine Papers, InStyle Magazine, Tiny Prints, Wedding Paper Divas, and William Arthur... (about her)

Her pics are so beautiful and there is something magic and poetic on them.

{Easter Giveaway}

Less then a week and it will be Easter! Chocolate Eggs, family reunion, cakes, food, calories, walks, beach, riding bikes... This is what Easter will be for many of you and I want to celebrate it with my next giveaway!

I'm thrilled to introduce to you the protagonists of my next giveaway.

My guests for this week giveaway are the lovely Christina and Courtney the talented owner of "White Owl", an amazing Etsy Store about vintage, lace, jewels and memories!

They describe them self as "... two sisters who love vintage and appreciate handmade things. We have collaborated on everything from films to photographs to art and jewelry. Many of our materials are rescued from estate sales, flea markets and even our own Grandmother! It is important to us to try to use repurposed materials as much as we can but we also love the mix of old and new"

I feel that we have so much in common and I'm so happy that they have accepted to answer to some question.

Enjoy the reading

Tell us a bit more about you, describe yourself and then describe your sister?

I'm Christina and I have a degree in Fine Art and I used to work professionally as a photographer. I love old things, so I love estate sales and fleamarkets. My sister Courtney is one of the cutest, smartest and funniest people I know and I love hanging around with her!

My name is Courtney and I am a professor at a local university where I teach film and Audio production. My degree is in film and I love making short films, biking and baking (especially cupcakes!). I would describe my sister Christina as very creative, and the kind of person who knows a little about how to do lots of things! We have a great time hanging out and we love to collaborate on creative projects.

How and when did you start to create jewels? Why do you use lace to create them?

We have been making our own jewelry and customizing our things for years, but a couple of years ago we decided to do some craft shows and we saw that people really liked our stuff, so we decided to put our jewelry on Etsy for everyone to enjoy! We started doing lace because we thought it would be an interesting idea and we had a large amount of lace and crochet work from our grandmother who was also very crafty. We don't only do lace of course- we love making new things out of old chains and brooches and ribbons too. It seems like the lace has caught on quite well though.

You live in Detroit, ther's any other place where you'd love to live?

Christina - I'd love to live in France or Ireland. They are both beautiful, picturesque places and I have great memories of traveling there.

Courtney- I would love to live in London or in New York! I love the fashion and culture and on my trips there I feel like I fit right in!

What's fashion for you? What do you love the most about fashion?

Christina- I really love the very avant garde designers, but I also love vintage fashions and the influence of the past on the present.

Courtney- I really enjoy the self expression of fashion. I love blogs that focus on street fashion from around the world. I like seeing how people are making trends their own and in some cases influencing fashion with their own perspective.

If you have to pick just one thing form your wardrobe, what would it be?

Courtney- Lately I would say it's been my short motorcycle boots- they just seem to go with everything! I plan to take them with me as my main shoes when I go to NYC this weekend!

Christina- I have a vintage camel colored cashmere coat I've been wearing everywhere this winter, and even though I'm happy that spring is coming, I'm a little sad to put my coat away!

Thank you Christina & Courtney, it has been a pleasure to have you here! Have a great Easter weekend!

{Etsy favourite store of the week: Behold The Jewelry}

Here I am... back with my Etsy favourite store of the week.

It's time to introduce you to Kris and her new store that she has just opened.

I've met Krisalmost at the beginning of my blogAdventure and we started exchanging comment on our blogs and then some nice emails.
She from New York and I begun to follow her because on her blogs Behold the Metraton she was giving great tips about her city, that is the city I love the most.
Then I've started to follow her because we have many things in common, one above all is the love for food, the love for kitchen, the love for a good glass of wine and for a dinner with friend!

I really like her and when she opened her etsy store I was thrilled. I think she 's really talented and I'm happy to "help " her in her new adventure!

I asked her to describe herself and her new adventure.

She says...."I am a writer-producer for Vh1 by day, and a graphic design student, cook, and jewelry maker by night. So many things, so little time but that's life! I like to stay challenged by always engaging in fun and creative projects. In my spare time (ha) I like to go out with my boyfriend, cuddle with my kitty Martin, take pictures of nature, and watch TV shows. Lost, The Office, and Top Chef are my favorites.

Her Etsy Store "...is all about earrings at the moment. Earrings are my staple choice when it comes to jewelry. Some women can't leave the house without their lipstick or a cute handbag. I need my earrings! I like to use fun beads and jewels that dangle off the ear. The perfect accent for a cocktail dress or a white t-shirt and jeans. The styles are universal! I also like to take broken jewelry that I've had for years and re-work the usable bits into a new and fabulous look. My earrings are simple, and prices that I feel go with the times for handmade goods. One day I'd like to add hair pins, brooches, and art work to the site. But that will take some time."

And I look forward to see her next creations and her next challenge...

Congratulation Kris.... and you out there go visit her Blog and her store!

If you desire to be featured in my Etsy project or do you have an online store and do you want me to write about you feel free to send me an email at gaia.borzicchi@gmail.com

{Steve McCurry}

Steve McCurry is an American photojournalist that at the age of 18 started travelling and taking pics. As wikipedia said he is "...best known for his photograph,"Afghan Girl" that originally appeared in National Geographic magazine..."

In November I went to a "vernissage" dedicated to Steve McCurry that was in Italy to present his latest book and for the opening of his exhibition. He's one of a kind. It was the first time I had the chance to meet an important photographer and he didn't disappointed my expectations. It's a great person, not only as a photographer but also as a human being. He showed his famous pics telling us, for each pics, the story of the shoot...

I didn't know him but I knew his work, his pics and especially the one of the Afghan girl with green eyes, Sharbat Gula. I know for sure that many of you don't associate the person with the famous photo, but I'm sure that all of you know that pic and the story behind it (a video, at the end of the exhibition tells all the story about the pics and about the search of the girl after 20 years from that shoot).

I had the occasion to visit the exhibition while I was in Milan this week. Near Piazza Duomo, more or less 240 pics (taken in 20 years 1989-2009) to narrate a trip started 40 years ago. The South-East (the name of the exhibition) of the world is an history of life, faces, lights, colors, landscapes.

He visited Afghanistan, India, Tibet, Birmania and many others places among the poorest of the world.

The pics are amazing, fantastic, magic, powerful ... I could use all the best adjectives I know and It won't be enough.
I was delighted from the set up that helps the visitor to feel and live the pics and to understand what they express. Lights, shadows and the pics hanged in the space let the visitor to move among faces, colors in a timeless world as an interactive trip.

5 infrered lines on the floor define the 5 main themes of the exhibition: "the other", "joy", "childhood", "war", "beauty" and also 4 short sections: "Aids", "Monsoon", "Portraits" and "Arms and connection".

Steve McCurry has won the World Press Photo Award twice as well as the Nobel Prize of Photography and you will understand why from this exhibit.

You can follow Steve McCurry on his blog. Some pics are really strong! Be prepared...

I'm going back to Milan to visit again the exhibition with Mr B. because it deserve more than a visit and because I don't want my love to miss a one time life experience.

See you tomorrow! I'm back with my "Etsy favourite store of the week"... My next guest will be Kris... Don't miss it!

(p.s.: she's doing a giveaway! check on it!!!)
